I love weddings, I'd honestly get remarried once a year if I could afford it and my husband would agree.  It's all about you looking glamorous, all your friends coming together, lots of delicious food and wine and a gorgeous setting. What's not to love? Here we look at some of the coolest trends for 2013/14 just because we love weddings so much.
A Cupcake Bar
Why? Because it's a unique desert option, so much fun for everyone and not only covers your desert but also your bonbonniere. Its the first of its kind in Australia so your absolutely sure to wow all your guests. If you haven't experienced it yet, check out our pics in the gallery.

Club Photography

Wedding photo's are usually a formal process that leave you with a gorgeous collection of stunning photo's of the bride and groom and the wedding party. But what about the reception, this where all the fun happens right? The trend for a while was disposable camera's on tables that where either left behind, empty or full of photo's of your hilarious friends, cousin's (or worst still uncle's) private parts. The new trend is to hire a club photographer to take awesome photo's at your reception, like the many of candid shots taken at bars and clubs. Guests look like celebrities and you'll have gorgeous pics to remind you of all the fun at the reception.

Okay so this hasn't hit our shores just yet but if your looking for something unique for your wedding video, the latest trend from the UK is from a company called Marryoke. Video's are shot to a song with the wedding couple, friends and guests lip syncing to the music. Very 2013 and a bit like your own music video. Lots of fun!
The Casual Wedding

It may not be new but it is having its time in the spotlight. These days casual is the best way to stay on trend and impress your guests. From picnics to BBQ's its cool to be casual. Think vintage glass bottles hung from a tree, a jazz band playing all afternoon while guests sit back on picnic blankets and sip champagne. Invite a food truck and you'll have just about the trendiest event in the Country!

The Virtual Wedding Guest
Taking the concept of social media that bit further, the emerging trend for weddings is to broadcast them live across the world. Live streaming of the event for guests who can't make it might just reduce the invite list too!
The After Party

With a move away from the traditional wedding night, couples no longer feel the need to rush off to consummate the marriage or head off to their honeymoon. The new tradition is to through an amazing after party, either at a separate venue or just at a nightclub. It is after all one of the best nights of your life, so why end it early?

Last night we were lucky enough to attend The Warwick Foundation 5th birthday and the launch of our wonderful partners Cupcakes for Cancer. As a representation of the Cupcakes for Cancer concept we were invited to provide guests with 450 delicious cupcakes and a bar full of yummy treats.
What a fantastic event with auctions, DJ's and very funny set by comedian Tom Gleeson. We had an absolute ball with our unique concept and after a few explanations about how it all works were well under way dishing out red velvet, vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. As always the Maltesers and fairy floss were the hits of the night, as were our 2 new bar attendants who had a ball!
Check out the pics below. And don't forget you can host your own donate and decorate party to raise funds for the Warwick Foundation through Cupcakes for Cancer. And if you don't have time to bake we can provide you with a discounted ready to go kit full of freshly baked cupcakes, icing and treats or a fully serviced bar with a percentage of proceeds going directly to Cupcakes for Cancer and The Warwick Foundation. What are you waiting for?

Quinoa Chocolate Cupcakes with Avocado and Cocoa Icing

A healthy alternative to cupcakes and lollies we now offer low fat, low sugar but still scrump-didly-umptious kids party packs. These amazing little cupcakes are also available as a gluten free option for your wedding on a tiered stand or as part of a bar.
We thought we would share with you our recipe as we just can't get enough of these moorish little cupcakes. They are amazing to eat,  they taste just like a chocolate cupcake but richer in flavor and oh so moist!

Here we have added a chunk of honeycomb however to keep it super healthy decorate with pretzels, sultanas or some yummy fresh fruit!

Quinoa Cupcakes
Makes 24 large cupcakes

4 cups cooked quinoa, cold (see note below for instructions to cook quinoa)
2/3 cup milk
8 large eggs
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1.5 cups butter, melted and cooled
3 cups organic cane sugar
2 cup pure cocoa
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Preheat the oven to 170°C reduce to 165 before cooking. Line the muffin tin with the 24 cupcake liners.

In a blender combine milk, eggs, vanilla and blend until combined.  Add 2 cups of cold cooked quinoa and the melted butter and continue to blend until smooth.

Combine all dry ingredients into a mixer and add the blended ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Cook for 30 mins

Note:  Bring 2/3 cup raw, rinsed white or golden quinoa to boil in a heavy saucepan with 1 1/3 cups water.  Cover, reduce to simmer and cook for 10 minutes.  Turn off heat and leave covered saucepan on burner for another 10 minutes.  Fluff with fork and allow the Quinoa to cool.

Chocolate Avacado Icing
Enough for 24 cupcakes

2 perfectly ripe avocado’s
1 cup good unsweetened cocoa powder (I used Ghirardelli)
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup dark chocolate mini chips (optional)

Place all three ingredients in a food processor and mix together, stopping to scrape down the sides once or twice. Stir in the chocolate chips (if using). The frosting is ready to spread immediately but you can refrigerate if you think it needs to firm up. Add a little water if it is too thick. (We didn’t need to add water)

Venue's with a difference

Melbourne has an amazing array of  restaurants and cultural events, and with this an endless list of seriously cool event spaces. There are the ones that continue to delight guests like Riva, Carousel, the Palladium and so on, all are beautiful some have views of the ocean and many are simply grand. There are so many that it is easy to simply walk the path well tread, so I thought it would be fun to walk on the wild side with a look into some of the not so normal event spaces. We haven't had a cupcake bar in any of these yet but with our unique event concept we think it's the perfect match! Read on....

Old Melbourne Goal

Okay so it's not really the place you'd be booing for your romantic themed wedding but a fantastic place for all sorts of parties and corporate events. The lighting can transform the venue from an eerie cold space to an even spookier but totally impressive space.
And the best part, you can freak everybody out with roaming guests like Ned Kelly, Police Sargent and Goal Governers!

Mofo Lounge

Day beds, Morrocon lanterns, exotic arabesque decor, these two event spaces in Prahran would certainly impress a crowd. There is nothing like lounging around in your party gear sipping cocktails!

Mon Bijou

It's a rooftop party....need i say more? oh and it has a pool....

M.V. Pearl

I must admit if I wasn't convinced of having a traditional wedding I would have opted for my wedding on a yacht. I can think of nothing more decadent and amazing than celebrating... anything on a yacht. The warm breeze swishing through your hair, the smell of the ocean and watching the sun set over the water....bliss

A converted warehouse in North Melbourne is essentially a blank canvas to be transformed into just about any event. Polished concrete floors and huge industrial ceilings, it's typical Melbourne cool.

The Great Den

Near The Great Dane furniture showroom this function space houses a collection of rare and authentic 20th century treasures. For some reason it makes me want a cigar and a martini!

There are many many more....watch out for our next path down a road less traveled!
Most of us  love toffee, maybe it was helping mum add the ingredients as kids and watching the sugar bubble on the stove or maybe it's the fact it's basically pure sugar, sticky, crunchy and oh so sweet. Praline is the adult version of toffee, essentially the same thing but slightly lighter and spread out on a tray to give you lovely shards of crunchy toffee. You can get creative with praline; add some almonds, crushed hazelnuts, even beautiful edible flowers. Praline is fantastic as a cupcake topping, whether you crumble it or add shards sticking
out of the icing; it compliments a cupcake by adding crunch and texture.
Gorgeous on your wedding cupcakes, you could even wrap shards in cellophane and
tie with string or ribbon as a unique bonbonniere. Never to do things by the book, we thought we'd take things a little further! As you know we love popping candy as a cupcake topping, it's a little surprise for your tastebuds on their way through the cupcake journey and always makes it's way to our topping bar. But the question was can you combine the two?? And the answer is.....Yes!
The result is an amazingly light delicate shard of praline that tingles and giggles in your mouth. Crush it, smash it or eat it anyway you can.
Here is the recipe...

We were recently alerted to the magnificent work being undertaken by Cupcakes for Cancer. This wonderful organisation is dedicated to minimising the impact of cancer on young adults (Age 18-40) through funding cancer research and support programs. The Cupcakes for Cancer beneficiary for 2013 is The Warwick Foundation. Read all about the Warwick foundation in the box below.
When we heard that Cupcakes for Cancer encouraged people to host "donate and decorate" fundraising events we started to think about ways that we could work together to encourage more people to host events. Of course not everyone likes to bake, and with our busy schedules these days many people simply don't have the time to organise a function and bake cupcakes, organise toppings, utensils and instructions. After a few excited conversations we developed a special Cupcakes for Cancer "donate and decorate" cupcake party pack.
The pack includes everything you need to host an event including freshly baked cupcakes, icing, toppings, utensils, instruction cards, serviettes, bowls and carry home boxes! All for only $5.50 per guest the packs are affordable and convenient. And of course we wanted to do everything we could to support the Cupcakes for Cancer initiative so every pack is discounted by 10%! Plus we here at The Naked Cupcake Bar will be donating 5% of event packs and 10% of the full price of every event bar directly to Cupcakes for Cancer! We are extremely excited about the new partnership and cant wait to build our business in Perth to further support the initiative.
Check out our page or visit www.cupcakesforcancer.org.au for more information.

On May 2nd the team at Support for Mums put together an amazing event to celebrate the launch of their not for profit organisation that assists mums and their families through circumstantial crisis. We were so pleased to be accepted as a sponsor at the event supplying guests with our unique dessert option. The bar was beautifully styled well before the event commenced, with guests very eager for opening time.  What a fabulous night we had, guests (nearly 80 people in a cupcake queue, very cute!) had dutifully lined up for a cupcake before opening time had commenced so we were working overtime to decorate!
The best request for the evening had to have been the challenge to decorate with as many maltesers as possible, challenge accepted! There were at least 15 little morsels of happiness squished onto a melt in your mouth red velvet cupcake topped with vanilla cream cheese icing. Love love seeing everyone giggle and laugh at the idea of topping their very own cupcake with sprinkles and chocolate melts or mountains of Persian fairy floss.
Cupcakes were in high demand and we manage to run out just before the event ended as many guests took a few home for the kids. We do have solutions for this if your event is catered (such as wedding cupcakes) or sit down.
The fantastic night, reminds me why I started this little craze! So much fun for everyone, especially us!
